Re:  NEW for SMASH 2008!  Protasis introduces compact, economical 'single-sample' CapNMR automation!

Dear Colleague,

We enjoyed participating at SMASH 2008 in Sante Fe, NM.  It was good to see many of our old friends in the NMR community.  The conference was full of catching-up conversations in the comfortable setting and over the good food at the La Fonda hotel.  The weather was warm and sunny broken only by a few, brief thundershowers.  Several CapNMR customers brought posters showing new data sets and novel applications (see enclosed sheet for recent CapNMR publications).  We brought our CapNMR probe and One-Minute NMR automation equipment again this year--attendees were logging in mock samples and watching them run on the mesmerizingly-fast CTC/LEAP liquid handler throughout the conference.

This year, we also introduced our new Citation 'Push-Button' Sample Loader for research groups that want convenient, validated loading of their 'precious' natural products, impurities or metabolomics samples.  Increasingly, these small samples are coming directly from LC-MS mass-directed fractionation systems.  In those situations, CapNMR is typically a perfect fit (in terms of mass loading) with LC-MS fractions recovered from an analytical or semi-preparative HPLC column.  Several recent journal papers (see enclosed references) accentuate this LC-MS+NMR compatibility--we have already demonstrated this trend effectively with our fully automated One-Minute NMR systems.  But we also wanted to take our best technology and create a useful entry-level system (without the robot) for occasional users of our CapNMR probes.

The compact Citation PBSL package (see catalog sheet) is intended to fit on a tabletop or cart (as shown) and includes all the basic features of the effective Protasis sample loading system; solvent sparging, blanketing and degassing and high throughput sample loading (HTSL).  To this, Citation adds a secondary system for loading a calibration standard and cleaning solutions automatically.  You load your sample into a a standard loop injector as you would an HPLC system, push the 'Inject' button and Citation takes care of positioning loading your sample in the probe, executing the experiments (by talking to your spectrometer using prepared scripts over  your laboratory network), disseminating the results and cleaning up afterwards.

Please look over the enclosed Citation 'Push Button' Sample Loader catalog sheet.  This 'semi-automated' approach  to CapNMR could be a great fit with your research workflow.   CapNMR routinely enables gathering of otherwise unobtainable spectra from extremely mass-limited samples and we think it is a must-have NMR probe for any discovery research lab.  Even for routine synthesis samples, CapNMR simply saves sample, solvent and magnet time and that saves you money.  And now our Citation PBSL 'single-sample automation' system makes instrument validation, sample loading and spectral acquisition even more convenient and reliable.  Ask us about how you could evaluate Citation PBSL in your laboratory!

Sincerely,

David Strand
