In this 1-hour e-seminar Dr. Tom O'Connell (Assoc. Prof. in the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics at the Univ. of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy and Director of the UNC-Hamner Institutes Metabolomics Laboratory) describes the application of Protasis NMR automation to the expanding field of metabolomics. Protasis' One-Minute NMR™ automation system and CapNMR™ probe are designed to reliably and with high mass-sensitivity analyze small aliquots of precious sample, making practical metabolomics investigations of biofluids in small animals (e.g. mice). Work in the UNC laboratory spans the translational research spectrum from cell and animal models all the way through clinical trials. Specific projects include investigation of the link between environmental arsenic exposure and diabetes, and the study of drug-induced liver injury.
